Rebuilding the Digital Backbone of Workplace Safety

Introduction_

The Beginning: Rebuilding for Scale

Following the successful development of the Autocard Cloud fuel card management system, that client referred Checkmate to RAZOR to help redevelop and modernise their health & safety platform.

Checkmate delivers structured workplace safety checks — enabling businesses to manage machinery, equipment, racking systems, and operational assets through digital inspections.

At its core, the system replaces paper-based and unreliable audit processes. Staff scan a SurTag™ attached to an asset, complete a guided checklist, and digitally record compliance or flag defects for resolution.

In 2021, the existing platform had reached its limits. Built on a legacy shared architecture, it no longer supported the scale, flexibility, and visibility the business required.

The solution was a complete rebuild.

As the Business Grew, So Did the Platform

As more companies adopted Checkmate, operational complexity increased.

Multi-branch organisations required structured oversight. Inspection schedules needed automation. Defects required clear resolution workflows. Dashboards needed to provide at-a-glance compliance visibility.

What began as a digital inspection tool evolved into a full operational control centre.

Initial System

  • Legacy shared infrastructure
  • Limited extensibility
  • Manual reporting processes
  • Constrained structural control

Evolved Platform

  • Company / Branch / Area management
  • Role-based user access
  • Asset & SurTag™ management
  • Configurable checklist builder
  • Inspection & defect tracking workflows

Today, Checkmate operates on a purpose-built, Laravel-based platform designed support scalable compliance management.
